Christianne fills her panels with a mixture of spontaneous shapes and symbols, such as peace signs, rainbows, flowers, and stars. She calls these symbols her ‘ideas’, and she puts them down with such energy and vibrancy that her ideas are communicated not only by the symbols she uses, but also by the passion and diligence of the application.
Artist’s Statement
[I like to make art] because I understand the way to work with paint and go over it and use layers. That’s kind of new for me.
[I like to paint] my father, heart shapes, crosses, my assistant’s brother, and flowers, and people, because it’s very important for me. I need to do something for my mom for the holidays. Also, I like to be spiritual.
I’m very good with color pencils and outlining my paintings. I am trying to draw an angel, but it’s hard to do.
I see I’m very special in my artwork. [Other people] say I’m doing wonderful work and that I’m talented. Sometimes I don’t want to use too much yellow because it’s too bright. I like magenta and gold. It’s very precious to me [gold] because it reminds me of my father.
I want to try to make butterflies; it’s kind of hard to do. I need help making the peace sign and diamonds and designs. I want to be a part of the band because I can sing, play the piano and dance.
